Welcome to the Home of Champions
The Kearsley bowling program has become the home of Champions throughout the state of Michigan. The JV Girls teams have won 6 JV State Championships, the JV Boys Bowling Program has won 2 JV State Championships, we have had 5 JV Girls win an individual JV State championship and a JV Boy win an individual State championship and our Varsity teams have won a total of 16 State Championships for teams and individuals. The Varsity Girls team has won 9 State Titles including a record 6 in a row and our Varsity Boys team won back to back State Titles in 2014 & 2015 and also claimed the title in 2023. Individual state champions include Lindsey Ploof, Chad Stephen and Hannah Ploof and Megan Timm. In the Flint Metro Conference the varsity girls team has won 14 straight Metro Conference Titles and the boys have won a total of 7 Metro Conference Titles. In Regional Tournaments the Varsity Girls team have won 10 Regional Titles and the Boys Varsity team has won 8 Regional titles. Our bowling program has been built from the bottom up as we encourage kids to begin bowling in elementary school and we have one of the largest middle school bowling programs around as we regularly have at least 6 teams in the middle school program. We are very proud of our bowling program and hope to continue the success doing things the right way. We are also very proud to call Richfield Bowl our home house and thank proprietors Jim & Sara Teuber for the continued support of our bowling program.
BowlFlint Bowling Camp 2023 Crowns Champions to kick off the 2023-2024 season at richfield bowl in August!
The 11th annual BowlFlint Bowling camp was held at Richfield Bowl on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 4th, 5th and 6th. We had 115 kids for this years camp, 46 girls and 69 boys, a new record for entries for the camp, we are very fortunate to have this many kids. The camp was open to anyone that was interested in bowling and we had kids from Flushing, Swartz Creek, Davison, Kearsley, Grand Blanc, Vassar, Powers, Atherton, Bendle andeven some girls from Hamilton, Ontario. We taught many different things the first couple of days and did lots of drill. The girls bowled on the curtains and they worked corner pins with the light. They did some drills to help maintain balance and lots of bowling. The camp concluded on Sunday with a tournament on the the new Phantom II oil pattern. The top 16 girls and top 16 boys qualified for match play. The high qualifier for the girls was Ava Boggs from Kearsley who had a 4 game total of 778. For the boys the high qualifier was Trent Zemore from Kearsley with a score of 832 that included a 244 game. When the tournament got to match play we had many great matches but it came down to Trent Zemore (Kearsley) against Camden Caswell (Owosso) for the boys and Ava Boggs (Kearsley) against Mackenzy Forster (Atherton) for the girls. Camden defeated Trent in the boys final with a 178 to 159 win in the final match and Ava defeated Mackenzie with 214 to 167 win for the girls title. All in all it turned out to be another great camp. Thank you to all the kids that participated, hopefully they all learned something and enjoyed it and thank you to A Frame Awards for donating the awards for the winners and Richfield Bowl for hosting us again this year and K & C Tee's for proving the awesome new shirts and thank you to the 22 coaches that helped out to make this year's camp so successful.
8th Annual Alumni Tournament Was Held on DEcember 26th, 2022 @ Richfield Bowl - Final Results!
The 8th Annual Alumni Tournament was held on Thursday, December 26th at Richfield Bowl. The tournament attracted 75 bowlers with a mix of former bowlers, current bowlers, youth and some alumni, the 75 bowlers was a increase from the 2021 tournament that had 65 bowlers. The tournament produced some very big scores and some exciting matches. Leading the entire tournament and the adult men division was Brandon Brilinski with a 764 series. For the youth girls division Senior Sara Ritchie led with a 586 qualifying score. Leading the youth boys division was Evan Brilinski with a 714 total. On the adult womens side 2016 grad Hannah Ploof led the women's qualifying with a 687 set. In the guys division Kyle McGrath qualified 2nd with a 730 series and Rob Liquia qualified 3rd with a 725 series that featured a 299 game. The men's division featured upsets the first round of match play as Sean Mayer (8th seed) knocked off the top seeded Brandon Brilinski and went all the way to the finals where he faced Kyle McGrath who was the 2 seed. Kyle outlast Sean in the finals winning by a score of 209 to 186. In the women's Division 2016 Kearsley grad Hannah Ploof was the high qualifier with a 687 just beating current Varsity girls coach Kailee Tubbs who was 2nd with a 681 series. The first round of women's match play also featured upsets as 8th seed Anna Rutledge knocked off top seed Hannah Ploof and 7th seed Allison Eible knocked off second seed Kailee Tubbs. The Timm sisters, Megan and Samantha the 5th and 6th seeds won first round matches and then knocked off the 2 upset winners Allison Eible and Anna Rutledge to make it to the finals. The sisters met in the finals for a 2nd time in this tournament as they did it as high school bowlers about 3 years ago. In the finals Megan outlasted Samantha and won the tournament 188 to 169. In the youth boys division Senior Howie Hammond was 2nd with a 682 series and Freshman Jameson Vanier was 3rd with a 661 series. In match play Evan Brilinski won the first round match against Jacob Hager but lost his 2nd round match to 4th seed Trent Zemore. Howie also won his first round match but lost in the 2nd round to Junior Gavin Haack. In the finals Gavin Haack defeated Trent Zemore by a score of 215 to 158. All of the final scores and final results for each bracket are listed below in the links. Thank you so much to everyone who came out, we were able to raise $1285 for the Troy Paxton Scholarship fund today, an amazing accomplishment for the bowling program.
Varsity Boys & Girls Defeat Administrators 27-15 in fun match after alumni tournament on December 26th, 2022
We finished the day on Monday, December 26th with a fun match with the varsity teams against the school board/adminstrators/teachers/Alumni. We had 2 different teams of kids bowling against them and this turned out to be very fun for everyone involved. The kids started the match out strong by winning 3 out of 4 Baker games as the Varsity Boys Team led the way with a 279 Baker game and the Varsity Girls team had a 212 game as they took a 16-4 lead into the individual game. In the only individual game bowled the varsity girls team bowled great against the adminstrators/teachers team as they had a 918 actual game to the teachers 891 game, The varsity girls team was led by Freshman Delany Vanier with a 204 game and Junior Ava Boggs with a 193 game. The boys team had their hands full with the school board/alumni team as the school board won the 2nd Baker game with a 217 to 179 win and this carried over into the school board team beating the varsity boys with a 933 team game to the varsity boys 898 team game. It still wasn't enough to overcome the girls dominance as the kids defeated the administrators by a final score of 27 to 15 as the kids remain undefeated in the yearly match. High scores for the kids were: Delany Vanier 204, Ava Boggs 193, Sara Ritchie 185, Jacob Hager led the boys team with a 204 game and Gavin Haack had a 202 game and Trent Zemore had a 188 game. Leading the school board/teachers/alumni were Hannah Ploof with a 228 game, Jeff Vanier with a 206, Rob Ploof with a 204 and Dave Temple with a 201 game, the school board also had Baker games of 218 and 217. It was a fun match and we are grateful to have great administration and teachers at Kearsley that come out and support the bowling program. Thank you all!
